Vehicles in German Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Officers then located many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.

An important representative said the vandalism made him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
