19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from spring of that year.
Success also signifies he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
His defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.
But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent saved four initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
