Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
